CAMPAIGN

#3500LIVES

OBJECTIVE

#3500LIVES is a global campaign launched by the FIA (The Federation Internationale de I’Automobile) to raise awareness on the importance of road safety around the world. The campaign also encourages Government to make road safety a top priority, increase the commitment to ensure road safety as well as actively seek and apply solutions to deal with all road safety challenges.

MISSION

Every day, 3,500 people are killed on the roads. Young people are particularly affected as road crashes are the number one cause of death of 15 to 29 year olds. Therefore, in 2015, for the first time road safety was included in one of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN) with the aim to halve global road fatalities and injuries by 2020. The campaign is part of the FIA’ commitment to accomplish the UN’s goals, thereby contribute to a safe and sustainable mobility, especially in developing countries.

IMPACT

Committed to the goals set by the UN, the campaign #3500LIVES was launched on March 10, 2017 in Paris. By the end of 2017, the campaign has spread to more than 900 cities in nearly 80 countries and became the largest road safety campaign in history. 15 global ambassadors are professional sport athletes, politicians and celebrities in different fields such as Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso, football player Antoine Griezmann etc. support to spread the messages globally about safe driving through 12 Golden Rules set out by the FIA.

FOR A SAFE, FRIENDLY
AND CIVILIZED VIETNAM

In Vietnam, collaborating with the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee, #3500LIVES campaign will be implemented by Vietnamese Motorsports Association (VMA) - the unit authorized by FIA. The #3500LIVES campaign in Vietnam will continue to inherit the spirit of global campaigns through educational programs, spreading the 12 Safe Driving Rules to build a civilized and safe transportation environment.

The campaign is not only a necessary step to minimize casualties caused by traffic accidents crashes, but also demonstrates the strong commitment of the Government and Vietnamese citizens to the international community in the process of spreading an image of "safe, friendly and civilized" Vietnam to the world.
