Vietnamese Motorsport Association LLC (VMA) has selected and sponsored young talented junior driver Pham Hoang Nam to represent Vietnam at the FIA Karting Academy Trophy 2020.
FIA Karting Academy Trophy is a global championship organized by the International Karting (CIK-FIA) with the aim of training and detecting young talents between the age of 12 – 15. About 50 talented drivers representing more than 40 countries from 5 continents around the world. Drivers will compete on identical kart supplied by CIK-FIA. The FIA Karting Academy Trophy is such an unique championship for its equal terms required while keeping the tension going for the competition between nations.
FIA Karting Academy Trophy 2020 will travel to three cities in Europe. The first competition will take place in one of the most famous circuits for gokart - South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato, Italy from 30/4 to 03/05/2020; the second competition will take place in Genk, Belgium from 18/6 – 21/6/2020 and the last race will take place in Le Mans, France.
Phạm Hoàng Nam (Doug Phạm) is the youngest Go-kart driver in Vietnam. With the passion in motorsports and the support from family, Hoang Nam has organized training in professional circuits in Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand 2-3 times per year. After hard work and training, Hoang Nam has gain impressive achievements at regional competitions such as the Gokart Taiwan Karting Open Championship 2018 and Rotax Max Challenge SEA 2019. Most recently, Phạm Hoàng Nam represented Vietnam to compete in Thailand National Championship Go-kart and Rok Cup Thailand 2019; the young driver ranked 8th out of 22 competitors in the final standings of Thailand National Championship Go-kart; 9th out of 21 competitors in the final standings of Rok Cup Thailand 2019.

FIA Karting Academy Trophy is the place nurturing potential Formula One drivers; those who began their career from this championship are Charles Leclerc, George Russell and Esteban Ocon. On season 2019, Singapore junior driver - Christian Ho has become the youngest champion of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy when he was only 12 years and 10 months old. He is also the first Asian driver to achieve this title in the history of the championship.

VMA aims to create opportunities for Vietnamese young drivers to compete in professional and global championships, contributing to great achievements for motorsports in Vietnam. Along with Vietnam hosting the Formula One event from 2020, we can strongly believe that there will be Formula One drivers with Vietnamese nationality in the near future.
